| Since the beginning of the 21st century, the transformation of industrial structure has been required an application of new design technology via costly technological investment.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy decided to establish and fund a specially-designed DIC. The center was designed to develop advanced design technology for joint use by design companies and universities in order to enhance design competitiveness. |

| As the importance of national and corporate identities increase more rapidly, today’s design needs to be structured so as to secure cultural property while contributing to affluence. The RDC plays a key role in international design exhibition to educate regional corporations and general citizenry by making them aware of the importance of design and to inform both our nation and the world about our design potential and capacity. |
