Globalizing the Design Industry
In order to advance the sophistication of Korea's design industry,
efforts are being made to track overseas design trends and
participate in international exhibitions, conferences, academic
conventions, and international design-related organizations.
Encouraging International Exchanges and
Cooperation
A wide range of activities are conducted for the purpose of strengthening international solidarity and cooperation among international design institutes and organizations through exchanges. Some examples include the hosting of major international industrial design conferences, and organizing the Seoul International Industrial Design Expo in 1994 and 1996; sending delegations to major international design conferences, including the ICSID and Icograda congresses, and International Design Forum(IDF) in Singapore; and concluding mutual agreements with overseas design institutes. All the aforementioned international cooperation projects are designed to help globalize and refine Korea's industrial design to compete in the international arena.
Operating Programs to Assist Design Efforts in Developing Countries
Korea, as the beneficiary of international industrial cooperation in the design field, tries to return something to design by supporting the economic development of developing countries, rendering manpower assistance and making contributions to the reinforcement of cooperation with participating countries. Specifically, KIDP invites design-related policy-makers and designers of developing countries, and transfers the experience and technology it has accumulated in relation to industrial design.
